Aluminium does not rust, is lightweight and strong. That is why it is the basis of many lounge sets and garden chairs. Maintenance is minimal: it mainly involves keeping the finish clean so that it stays beautiful.
In short
- Twice a year clean with lukewarm water and a mild soap.

- After cleaning rinse and let dry.

- Do not use a pressure washer at close range: the hard jet can damage the coating and the seams.

Combination with teak, cushions or wicker
Many aluminium sets have teak details, rope or wicker and cushions. Remove the cushions before cleaning and follow the advice on the pages about teak, rope and wicker for the other materials. If teak treatment gets on the aluminium, rinse it off immediately with water while it is still wet.
For the winter
- Aluminium can overwinter outside. Clean it first and let it dry.
- A breathable protective cover keeps out dirt, leaves and bird droppings. Make sure the set is dry when you put the cover on, and allow air to circulate.
- Check the adjustable feet or caps under the legs, so that no water remains in the frame.
